Beamr Set to Showcase 4K HEVC Optimization and Cable Workflow at NAB 2016
What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?
Anything related to video delivery and playback of Virtual Reality and HDR will be hot and certainly worth seeing.
What products/services will Beamr be showcasing?
Beamr is excited to be showcasing 4K HEVC optimization and Cable workflow support in Beamr Video, including playback of optimized video on a QAM STB. Our recently acquired company, Vanguard Video, will be showcasing H.264 and HEVC SDK and encoding software solutions for cloud, ARM and all major operating systems in their booth, including HDR support in both standards: Dolby Vision and HDR 10 (SMPTE).
What trends in technology do you envision for the world of broadcast and content creation in upcoming years?
Three technology factors will drive the state of the art over the near and mid term. First, HDR. As HDR capable TV’s make their way into the consumers home, they are going to demand content. Second, resolution - 4k. Consumers will accept 1080p on their 4k panel, but overtime will want to experience the full resolution of their 4k UHD TV. Third, bandwidth constraint of the network will put pressure on the bitrates that content is being produced and delivered at. Content creators will be forced to deliver higher quality using fewer bits.
What are you expecting to be "trending" or very popular at NAB 2016?
Anything Virtual Reality will get buzz. But there is a lot interest in content adaptive solutions such as Beamr Video.
Are you holding any special events at the show? If so, what are they?
Cocktail party - meet the Beamr and Vanguard executive team. April 19th @ 5:30pm in the Connected Media IP - Theatre located in the South Hall Upper.
How do you reinvent yourself each year at each NAB show?
Our customers and industry play an important role in setting the tone for our NAB participation. This NAB is especially exciting with the acquisition of Vanguard Video.
