George Georgeadis, manager of products at Dissolve, discusses the introduction of the Liftoff program, designed for busy filmmakers and production companies considering a hassle-free way to get into stock footage licensing, at NAB 2016.

Dissolve Introduces its free Liftoff™ Program for Filmmakers at NAB 2016
What are you most excited to see at this year's NAB show?
I’m always excited to see the latest camera gear — I'm the typical gear-head filmmaker who spends my earnings on the latest and greatest equipment. Having said that, I am also very excited to see where VR goes this year, from the latest VR headsets to VR experiences, which are surely going to be mind-blowing.
What products/services will your company be showcasing?
This year, we are excited to have a booth at NAB for the first time and even more excited to announce our newest product offering, the Liftoff collection. This collection of footage is the result of the Liftoff program, which has been around for a little while now. Exclusive Dissolve contributors can submit raw footage to Dissolve, and our production team edits, colors and does all metadata and keywording, then publishes stock-ready clips to dissolve.com — all for free.

Liftoff is designed for the busy filmmaker who wants to make the most of footage they’ve shot from their projects (documentaries, shorts, commercial projects, experimental projects, etc.) but has no time or has only limited resources to create a stock footage collection out of footage that would otherwise be collecting dust. And because this footage wasn’t shot with stock in mind, it is incredibly cinematic and unique and will be an amazing collection to offer our customers.

We will also be excited to celebrate our stock photography collection, which launched last fall and is fast approaching 1 million photos.
What trends in technology do you envision for the world of broadcast and content creation in upcoming years?
I believe VR, although still in its infancy, will be one to watch. There are a lot of companies making serious investments into VR, from technology to content, and I for one am very excited to see how it affects the industry as a whole.
What are you expecting to be "trending" or very popular at NAB 2016?
VR obviously, plus the newest RED and Blackmagic offerings, and probably a lot of cool stuff from Freefly systems and their competitors when it comes to stabilization gear and drones.
What events are you most excited to attend at the show?
Last year I really enjoyed the Vimeo Studio event and looking forward to attending this year's if there is one.
Are you holding any special events at the show? If so, what are they?
Would have loved to, but we are not this year. Maybe next year. Make sure you come say hi at our booth!
How do you reinvent yourself each year at each NAB show?
Over the past three years, we've been attending NAB as guests, so the biggest reinvention this year is having an actual presence with our booth in Central Hall (#C7046).
Anything else you'd like to add?
We can’t wait to meet as many of the incredibly passionate and talented people who attend NAB as we can and invite anyone interested in learning more about Dissolve, the Liftoff program and collection, or our photography collection to stop by and meet us in person.
